Grapes: 70% Nero d’Avola, 30% Frappato.

Description: Although this area has been making wine since being colonized by the Greeks in 6th century B.C. Until recently we’ve seen many improvements in the quality and freshness of Sicilian wines. Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the only wine awarded DOCG status (highest level of quality) in Sicily.
The main requirements are 30%-50% Frappato and 50%-70% Nero d’Avola. Aging minimum (8 months for standard red and 18 months for Classico).
Tree ripe fruit and currant aromas. On the palate, lovely sour plum and jammy mulberries are layered over hints of cherry cigar-box and volcanic mineral essence. Finishes with a hint of red licorice and mint.
Food Pairing: Alone, Aperitif, oily fish, white meats, spicy/aromatic sausages, etc.
