Description: Dominus means 'Lord Of The Estate" in Latin. In the late 1960's Christian Moueix fell in love with Napa Valley and its wines. Son of Jean-Pierre Moueix, the famed wine producer from Libourne, France. Christian returned home in 1970 to manage the family vineyards including Chateau Petrus, La Fleur-Petrus, Trotanoy in Pomerol and Chateau Magdelaine in Saint Emilion. All the forementioned chateau's are at the top of their game for the last 15 to 30 years.

In 1981 Christian Moueix decided to purchase the historic Napanook Vineyard , a vineyard in Yountville that had been the source of fruit for some of the finest Napa Valley wines of the 40's and 50's.

2008 was an ideal season, mild spring with few temperature fluctuations contributed to even bud break and healthy bloom.

The Wine Advocate wrote, "The 2008 is made in a more masculine style, bigger body and more structure. The 2007 and 2008 represents the finest back-to-back vintages for Dominus since 2001 and 2002. Lower yields resulted in a denser, more concentrated wine. Smells like a hypothetical blend of a top Napa Cabernet Sauvignon and a serious Bordeaux, possibly a cross blend of a Pomerol and a Pauillac. Silky sweet tannins." -99pts. Wine Advocate (4500 cases produced).
