The Tortochot winemaking tradition goes back to the early 1900’s. Located in Gevrey-Chambertin Gabriel Tortochot was a staunch defender of Burgundy’s wine history, notably the president of the Union of Wine Gevrey-Chambertin. Currently his daughter Chantal Tortochot has taken over the operation. Les Champeaux vineyard is a prized 1er Cru vineyard located near the famous Cote- Saint- Jacques. The vineyard pedigree has the ability to be kept alongside the ranks of Grand Crus, known to age for years and years.
General Description: The 2000 vintage looks stunning, showing its vibrancy and soft rose petal color showing a hint of maturity at the rim. Wonderful flora aromas with wild raspberry and potpourri. The texture is velvety with red fruit upfront. Notes of cedar and mascarpone. Tannins are balance and integrated as it finishes with hints of barnyard and sour cherry.
