Zweigelt is the crossing of Austria’s two major traditional red grapes, St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch. As such, you get the spice, structure and dark blue fruit from the Blaufränkisch and the nimble Pinot Noir like elegance of St. Laurent. Light to medium purple in the glass, this wine has aromas of plum, wood smoke and a bit of animal character. In the mouth, bright cassis and dark cherry flavors have a light tannic base and beautiful earthy component. Elegant and stony, with a crystalline purity.
