John told us “Once taste this wine, you will look at North Fork in the different light.” For a long time we had never fully convinced by quality of Long Island wines. But John was right. We fell in love with his red immediately. It exhibits balance, elegance, finesse of the old world style combined with liveliness and clarity of the new world style. For more than fifteen years John Leo has been tending grapes and making wine on the East End, Long Island, focusing on sustainable, hands-on, attentive vine growing. Only in the best years do they bottle and label the wine “Leo Family.” Made from a combination of the North Fork’s finest grape varieties including Merlot, Malbec, and Syrah, it is aged for 18 months in French oak with 30% new barrels.
