Margaux Grand Vin 2005 La Sirene de Giscours

Grapes: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.

Description: The wine comes from a selection of our youngest vines. The vinification and aging benefit from the same care as the Grand Vin, Chateau Giscours. Located on deep gravel and sand from the Garonne river. The vines are hand picked and hand sorted, then placed in concrete vats for fermentation. Aged in 100% French oak (fine grain and medium toast) for 12 months.

Giscours has a long, rich history, which can be traced back to the 14th century. The first vines were planted in 1552 by Pierre de Lhomme. The terroir is like no other, located in the Margaux appellation, in the commune of Labarde and Arsac. Three magnificent gravel hilltops deposited by the Garonne river at the beginning of the Quaternary era is one important reason for its unique and complex character.
