Description: The S.C.E. Gros family purchased this winery from Chateau Bourneuf in the 19th century. It sits atop of soil composed of Iron, Silica, and gravel composite.
This is a wine that is ready to drink now and several years into the future. Initial aromas of juniper, evergreen, soy and currants. On the palate the wine displays good vibrant acidity, which is important as the wine develops. Toasted oak and gripping tannins up front reveals fresh cedar wood and layers of black cherry, cocoa, and burnt toast. As the wine decants, the aromas intensify with baked Alaska and red apple skins. It finishes very dry with good complexity throughout.
Food Pairings: Braised, grilled, or roasted meats, Colby Cheddar, Camembert, Brie, Duck Confit, Lamb, Venison, etc.
