Ruby red in color with aromas of dark cherry and blackberry, sweet red plum, sassafras and tobacco. Notes of pungent cedar wood. Well structured and smooth. Youthful with edgy tannins. Entirely planted to Sangiovese Grosso, 34 acres of vines, the oldest planted in the mid-1960’s are reserved for Brunello and the remaining 14 acres for Rosso di Montalcino. The south-southwest facing vineyards are situated at 900 feet and benefit from the mild breezes off the Mediterranean. Campogiovanni's world-class terroir of sandy, mineral-rich clay soil encourages slow and steady ripening, which produces unusually complete and balanced Sangiovese Grosso grapes.
