This wine is made near the Atlantic coast along the Loire River. Muscadet is the local name of the grape grown in the commune of Nantes, the actual name of the grape is Melon de Bourgogne, which use to be widely planted in Burgundy, hence the name. When grown in this area, along the Atlantic coast, the wine displays lots of mineral flavor (brine and wet stone) and light citrus character. Sur Lies means the grape skins stayed in contact with the must over a long period of time without filtering creating a creamy texture.
