Light, fruity, effervescent and wonderfully refreshing. Vinho Verde locates in the north-western Portugal. Wines made here are so fresh and youthful that they earn the moniker verde (green). Although not sufficiently effervescent to be officially classed as sparkling wines, much Vinho Verde white has an obvious petillance. Albarino (Alvarinho) is a green-skinned grape variety native to Galicia on the north Atlantic coast of Spain. It makes plump white wines with peach, citrus and mineral characters that pair perfectly with the local seafood.
