Product Description
Bold, intense, medium/full-body white.
Grape: Grenache Gris.
Region: South France> Roussillon> Maury.
Notes: Oak barrel aged. Natural yeasts. Old vines.
In 2002, English winemaker Richard Case and his wife Sarah staked their future on two hectares of ancient Grenache and Carignan vines surrounding the village of Maury in the Catalan region. The steep vineyards of coal black schist, reflecting the intense sun of southern France, can’t help but produce very low yields of rich, powerfully concentrated wine. Fermented and aged in French barrels to capture the essence of the rare, old Grenache Gris, The Guardian has intense fennel-like aromatics and a saline minerality that keep it fresh despite its impressive weight and intensity.
Food Pairing: chicken, seafood, game, soft and hard cheese.
