Corsica is an Island off the southeast coast of France in the Mediterranean Sea. The wines of Corsica compliment the cuisine, which is heavy on wild boar, Corsican pork, pulenta (from chestnuts), goat, and sheep cheese. Domaine Vico overlooks the Golo Valley with mountain vineyards planted in 1902. Family winery totally modernized and renovated making very complex wines. Lightly burnt cherry color with aromas of raspberry, sweet alcohol, and cherry compote. Medium-bodied wine with a round, voluptuous texture. Gripping tannins throughout the length of the wine without being austere. Lovely red fruit and strawberry licorice character on the palate.
