In 2002 the Vivera family finally realized their dream to purchase a wine estate in Martinella (the name comes from Saint Martin, the wine saint) in Sicily on the northeast side of Mt. Etna. The estate has olive groves and vineyards where native grape varietals are cultivated organically. Etna’s mountainous range and volcanic soil creates microclimates that assist the Vivera family in creating the unique and elegant Etna wines. This white has a long growing season with cooling winds, ensuring good aromatic wines that express the saline from the sea and a complex character of combination of rich, ripe fruit and mushroom-y earthiness that comes from a long lees contact.
