Grapes: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Region: France> Bordeaux> Margaux> Cantenac.
Notes: 12 months in French oak. Second line of 4th growth Chateau Prieure-Lichine.
The second like of the 4th growth Chateau Prieure-Lichine. Relatively high proportion of Merlot is accounted for the fact that the Margoaux is located within a part of the Medoc where soils have more clay and less deep gravel, and are better suited to the balance of this varietal. The estate changed hands in 1999 with a major focus on quality enhancement. The results are obvious in this clean, mature, fruity, dry red, with smooth tannins. Great balance. Very drinkable now and will continue to improve.
